First Day Back!

After visiting the yard for work, Mom and I had a fabulous walk around the field above my house. The next few days will be filled with errands and beginning another season! And enjoying the fantastic weather here. It'll be low 50's for a bit, and this morning it was 37 degrees... And felt wonderful! It's a different kind of warm here.

The Field:

The bike path I'll be riding to work... But not yet!

Pussy Willows are a big sign of spring before the leaves arrive!

River or road? Breakup has arrived!

Mom and I with wet feet after the field and bike path.

Just before midnight on April 25th, my backyard. It doesn't get much darker!

Best Intentions of Continuing

I'm going to do my best to keep this mostly updated this summer... With photos even! If anybody is looking for my photo project, the addy is: http://365project-6-4-2010.blogspot.com/ Hope any who look at this will enjoy it!

I'll be driving for HAP Alaska a third summer on highway, at this point I'm driving the Taylor Highway and Top of the World Highway to Dawson City, YT in Canada; and the Alaska Highway through the Yukon Territory to Skagway Alaska. All of my tours begin or end in Fairbanks, AK (i.e. home).

Fairbanks to Dawson City via overnight in Tok, AK: Approx. 390 miles one way
Fairbanks to Skagway, AK via overnights in Beaver Creek, YT and Whitehorse, YT: Approx 700 miles one way

Left Arlington, VA, arrived Fairbanks, Alaska

Sunday at 8am... or was it 4am... my plane took to the skies and I was headed back home to Fairbanks! Despite having grown up with long plane rides, the DC to Seattle flight is -long-! A short layover in Seattle and then to Anchorage to visit with friends on a long layover. Heading to the airport again we saw a moose off the road a bit, guess I'm back in Alaska, eh? A short hop to Fairbanks and I was home! At that point it was 3:59am... or 11:59pm. I had grand plans of calling Mathew and a few places in DC, until my friend pointed out at dinner that it wasn't 3pm in DC... it was 11pm! Time to switch back the time-zone mindset! Once in Fairbanks, I got a ride home with a friend and fellow driver, and then, sleep in a real bed!

Last Photos of Washington, DC (from plane)

First photo of Alaska! Also from Plane. This is just before landing in Anchorage.
First moose I've seen in almost eight months!
A very common setting in which to see moose. Yay! (P.S. If the ears go back further... drive away.)
